Chipata lies in the southeast of Zambia, functioning as an important trade hub in its history. On the 4th Silk Road International Expo in May 2019, Xi'an's Vice Mayor Wang Yong, under the mandate of Mayor Li Mingyuan, signed the Letter of Intent on Developing Sister-City Relationship with the mayor of Chipata, Mr. Sinoya Mwal.
During the outbreak spreading the African continent, China donated a batch of medical aid to Zambia. Recently, on an interview of CCTV, Mayor Mwal said: "China is helping others fight the pandemic, which also benefits Zambia. China has gained precious experiences in fighting the virus, and they would also share them with the world."
