Contest cultivates outstanding Chinese storytellers, interpreters

The finals of the "Experience Xi'an and Understand China" 3rd Chinese Storytelling and Foreign Affairs Interpreting Contest of Xi'an took place at Xi'an International Studies University on Dec 10.

More than 300 Chinese and foreign contestants, guiding teachers, and student representatives from 21 universities in Shaanxi province attended the event.

The contest was divided into two sections: Chinese storytelling and interpreting.

In the Chinese storytelling section, 30 international participants presented video talent shows, combining their experiences and thoughts on living, studying, and working in Xi'an and China to tell their own stories of Xi'an.

An international student is in the Chinese storytelling section of the contest. 

In the interpreting section, 31 Chinese contestants gave speeches and consecutive interpretations on topics related to the development of Xi'an, traditional culture, the Belt and Road Initiative, and the Silk Road.

Themed on "Experience Xi'an and Understand China", the contest aimed to explore rich stories embedded in Shaanxi folk customs and the characteristics of Xi'an from the perspectives of Chinese and international students.

Since its establishment in 2021, the contest has been held for three consecutive years, attracting the participation of Chinese and international contestants from universities in the city and continuously increasing its influence.

It has promoted mutual understanding and cultural integration between China and foreign countries, making essential contributions to discovering and cultivating outstanding Chinese storytellers and interpreters.
