New Reminds from Xi'an Disease Control Center: About the Second Dose of COVID-19 Vaccination

It is reported that by June 6, Xi'an has administered 8.66 million doses of vaccine. Among those who have been vaccinated, 7.39 million had their first dose and 1.27 million the second one. We have achieved the primary goal of vaccination.

According to the deployment of the state and province, we will, from now till June 30, mainly ensure the second doses be administered within effective intervals to establish the immunization screen for our residents. In this regard, Xi'an Disease Control Center reminds: if you have already had the first jab, please make the reservation for the second according to the time suggested on your COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate.

Experts say that an interval of 3-8 weeks for the inactivated vaccine would secure its protective efficiency several folds higher.

If you have taken the first dose for more than 3 weeks (administered before May 19), please make the reservation for the second dose as soon as possible.

If your first dose was administered more than 5 weeks ago (before May 5), make sure you administer the second dose before June 18 in case of missing the best time for immunization due to full reservation.

If your first dose was administered 8 weeks ago, please get the second jab immediately.

If you can't book the reservation on the mini-program, please go to the vaccination station directly with your Vaccination Certificate for the second dose at hand. Please NOTE, Anhui Zhifei Longcom vaccine requires a second dose to be administer 4 weeks after the first. Please reserve your second one in time.

Xi'an Disease Control Center kindly reminds our fellow citizens migrating to Guangzhou, Foshan, and Zhanjiang: please stay and enjoy the Dragon Boat Festival in place.

In recent, many places in Guangdong province have seen highly infectious COVID-19 cases. Guangzhou and Foshan have noticed all residents to stay in Guangdong province. Any who has to get out of the province should have negative NA within 48 hours. On June 8, Xiarong Village, Tanba Town, Wuchuan city of Zhanjiang, Guangdong province was identified as a medium-risk area. At present, there are 2 high-risk areas and 13 medium-risk areas.

To prudently practice the regular pandemic control measures in the way of "Guard against import cases and prevent local reviving," Xi'an Disease Control Center reminds our fellow people who are in Guangzhou, Foshan and other cities in Guangdong: Stay right where you are for the festival and avoid travelling. All our residents should be alert for the pandemic's complexity and flexibility and reduce unnecessary travels and gatherings.

By June 9, there 2 high-risk areas and 13 medium-risk areas in China.

1.Under the condition that there are still places of medium and high risks and in lockdown in Guangzhou, Foshan, Zhanjiang, etc., we strongly suggest residents there stay at home for the festival. Anyone who has to come to Xi'an, please report your health condition and travel routes to your community and employer before leaving.

2.All our residents should closely notice the movement routes of those confirmed cases and the asymptomatic carriers as well as the adjustment of the risk areas released by Guangdong province. If, within 14 days, you had contacted the confirmed cases or the asymptomatic carriers or you have been to the risk areas, please immediately report to your local community office and cooperate for the NAT and health monitoring with local pandemic prevention and control center.

3.All our citizens are highly recommended for not going to the risk areas. If it is a must, make sure to report to your community office and employer beforehand. Properly protect yourself and record your movement during the trip. After you come back to Xi'an, report to your community office and employer for your arrival and cooperate with the local pandemic prevention department for the monitoring and survey.

4.All our citizens are suggested a healthy way of life as follows:  Properly protect yourself  Keep a safe social distance  Wear a mask (especially on public transportation or at indoor activities)  Wash your hands often  Ventilate indoor air often  Avoid gatherings  Avoid meeting dinners

5.If you have the symptoms like fever, cough, and fatigue etc., please go to the fever clinic of a nearby hospital with a mask with the protection grade higher than the disposable one. Avoid public transportation on your way to the hospital.

6.Vaccination is the most effective way of protection. To ensure the safety and health of everyone, all our residents are strongly recommended for the vaccination. The schedule for vaccination in June has been adjusted slightly. Namely, the second dose of vaccine shall be administered for most of the people before June 30. The interval between two doses is 3-8 weeks. All people who administered the first dose 3 weeks ago now can make the reservation for the second. Those who administered the first dose around 8 weeks ago should administer the second immediately.
