Shaanxi History Museum

Shaanxi History Museum, located at the southwest of the Wild Goose Pagoda in Xi’an, first built in 1983 and open on June 20th in 1991, is the first modern nation-level museum, which marks a new milestone of the development of China’ museum cause. This museum is designed by the architecture style of Tang Dynasty with palace at the center and other buildings at the surroundings which integrates the national custom, local characteristics and time spirit into one. The whole museum covers 65,000 square meters with construction area 55,600 square meters, cultural relic’s pavilion area 8,000 square meters and exhibition area 11,000 square meters. There are more than 370,000 cultural relics in the museum from the simple stone wares in the ancient time to the various wares used in the social life of 1,840 B.C. with the time span of more than 100 years. The cultural relics here not only have great quantity and variety, but also own great taste and value, in which the bronze wares in Shang and Zhou Dynasty are very delicate, the pottery figurine have various poses, the golden and silver wares in Han and Tang Dynasty are the number one in China and the wall paintings in the tomb of Tang Dynasty are unparalleled. So we can say that all exquisite products are gathered here.
